The following information is designed to help you understand the requirements and assist trainee judges in sourcing the information needed.

Dogs Australia Regulations – Judges Training

The Judges Training Program is conducted under Dogs Australia Regulations and is a national scheme. Please click here to download the national Judges Code of Practice and Conduct.

Information for Prospective Trainees

Some of the requirements include:

  • Five year continuous membership of Dogs Victoria and hold current membership status
  • Have officiated as trial manager, judges steward or gun steward at five Dogs Australia recognised trials in the preceding five years
  • Have successfully trained and completed with a dog at the level for which he is applying
  • Be the holder of an appropriate gun licence if required
  • Been approved by Dogs Victoria

Method of Education (Self Education)

Trainees will be required to:

  • Educate themselves by being conversant with the Dogs Victoria Rules and Regulations
  • Attend all lectures and tutorials and practical training sessions
  • Attend practical training days
  • Study the Rules for the Conduct of Field Trials

Written Examinations and Practical Assessments

Examination papers shall comprise of short answer questions and/or multi-choice questions. The minimum pass mark is 75% for both sections of the examination.
