Hi, I'm Charlie, a Basenji Preservation Breeder from Melbourne, Australia. These are my fur babies, and this is our story.

It all began when I optimistically searched online for a dog that's low on barking, clean, doesn't shed, good with kids, fine being alone, and doesn't smell. To my surprise, I stumbled upon a unique breed called the Basenji aka the African Barkelss Dog. Instantly captivated, I knew I had to have one. However, Basenjis were not very common, and they only go into season once a year. Determined, I quickly reached out to breeders and found myself traveling to another state to hold my first Basenji, Jax. He changed the game, and life was never the same.

Jax grew into a handsome fellow, and I became obsessed with researching the breed. It was all new to me, and I constantly discovered fascinating facts, like their existence dating back to 6000 BC. Intrigued, I delved into Jax's lineage and discovered his bloodline tracing back to the 1800s. I couldn't resist preserving such an incredible pedigree.

Enter Luna, the lady of the house. Luna was carefully chosen to complement Jax's characteristics and DNA. While both possess loving temperaments, their personalities differ greatly. Jax embodies the textbook Basenji, independent-minded yet incredibly sweet. He adores other dogs and especially loves people, truly a lapdog. Luna, on the other hand, is the embodiment of sweetness and love. She's an amazing mother, and I can't wait to see her with her second litter this July.

In June 2022, Jax and Luna had their first litter, consisting of 3 boys and 3 girls: Magneto, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Phoenix, and Gambit. Phoenix remained with us, while their siblings went on to bring joy and puppy chaos to their new and wonderful fur parents (love you Redtri fam).

In July 2023 Luna welcomed her 2nd litter of 7, consisting of 5 boys and 2 girls. A wonderful mum who cared for and nursed her pups for over 9 weeks.
