About the White Swiss Shepherd Dog
History The first dogs of this breed were imported into Switzerland in the early 70s, with the American male Lobo, whelped in 1966, considered as the progenitor of the breed in Switzerland. The descendants of Lobo registered with the Swiss Stud Book (LOS) and other white shepherd dogs imported from the USA and Canada, are considered the foundation of the White Swiss Shepherd Dog breed. The White Swiss Shepherd Dog (Berger Blanc Suisse) was accepted by the FCI in 2003 and in 2011 the FCI board voted unanimously in favor of full breed recognition. In Australia the White Swiss Shepherd Dog was recognised in 2008 with the first dogs in the show rings early 2009. Since this time the numbers have grown steadily.
